14 Fish

Fishing
Since our classes ended at noon each day in Nicaragua, we had the afternoons and evenings free. One day, Kamila, Kaz, and I went fishing with four strangers. Our boat caught 14 fish, mostly red snapper, but also grouper and other fish we could not identify. We took 6 of the red snappers with us and Maritza, the Spanish school's cook, served them for lunch, complete with heads and tails. Of course, some of our group were freaked out by the sight of a fish head or tail on their plate, but the fish was actually really good once they got past that. To me, the red snapper was the best meal we had at the school. All the other meals were pretty bad. Mostly rice and beans and maybe a dollop of something else. I was so sick of rice and beans by the time we left, I didn’t mind shelling out big bucks for fast food hamburger meals for Kaz and me on the way home to Monteverde.
The pictures show Kaz with a Grouper and a Red Snapper. The red snapper is the red one.
